An excellent article about web standards. Andy Rutledge tackles why so many misconceptions exist among web professionals when it comes to “web standards” or ” w3c compliance.” His answer, a bad choice in nomenclature. “So how about we redefine the case for Web standards for what it really is: the case for Web craft quality.”

Also worth reading is a follow-up to an email he received in response to his article. The email is a painful read, but a common misconception among some designers whom equate design with creativity and focus purely on the visual side of things. “Thinking of Web design as merely something visual is to think of an ocean as something blue, featureless, and flat. For both the oceans and the Web, there’s an entire, rich ecosystem below the surface that has specific requirements.”

A modern quilt…

December 31, 2006

SAS has some interesting pieces at reasonable prices. These three ‘great metal globes‘ are $195 and would make a very dramatic statement in any home.

Leave it to the French to come up with such eccentric lighting. I love the bright playful pallettes they’ve used for what looks like rope chandeliers? The birdcage lamp speaks for itself.
